Asus U81A from Best Buy
Asus U80 model at Best Buy is the U81A-RX05 Sku#: 9366562, appears to be the same as the U80 with slight modifications as you probably know Best Buy seems to water things down to decrease price point and make it their “unique” branding.
Here are the specs Best Buy printed out for me.

Doesn’t mention anything about Blue Tooth or back lit keys, Hmmmm. Might have to look at the display a bit closer now that I’ve been able to do some more research. I can do without the Blue Tooth (I can get a micro usb bluetooth if I really need one later), but it would be nice to have the backlit keys. Also, the display didn’t seem to have the mouse pad light trail, more fluff than anything so not too concerned about that.

So? how is it? I just bought one online from bestbuy, the U81A and won´t have it till aug 8 because I am from argentina and a friend is bringing it to me, but as far as I could look on the internet for that money is a real steal…
Thanks for your article.
I returned mine. I went with the Acer Timeline model. Why I didn’t like it is in the other posts, but mainly because the more I played with it, the more I realized how much they took away from the original specs.
I just bought this model from Best Buy over the Acer Timeline, and I absolutely love it!
In my opinion, I think this is the best balance of mobility and power. At 4.6 lbs and 7:30 battery life (measured IRL with brightness toned down very much and Wifi on doing homework/web surfing), the 30 minutes less of battery power and .5 lbs added weight was a good tradeoff for a T6500 C2D over a SU2700 Pentium, in my opinion.
Of course, this thing isn’t much of a looker. It takes much from Sony’s style (especially its Vaio laptops and Walkman cell phones), but hey, call me old school, but I prefer function over form
No regrets geting this baby!
I love it. Got mine for $376.99 at Best Buy. Don’t think it has the keyboard back lite though.
