Timeline Update

Ok, I’ve had a chance to work with the 15.6″ timeline model and here’s my thoughts.

I love the screen size, but the whole size is a bit too big (WIDE) for being mobile, although it does fit in my old DELL case if I place it not where the computer should go, but in the accessory pocket next to the computer.  It’s that thin.  Still, to big for my style usage.  It’s a personal preference.  Now the only thing I have to decide is if I should keep the 14″ or spend the extra $200 and upgrade to the 13″ with dual processor, blue tooth and 500 GB HD.  Not sure, I’ve already spent about $150 more than I was originally wanting to.  I’m going to load my software aps and see how this current model does response wise.  If it starts crawling, I think I’ll have my answer then.  Otherwise, guess what?  I’ve been working all day and still have 3 hrs and 6 mins 35% battery life remaining in Balance mode.  Cool to the touch, I have to press my ear near the fan port just to hear if it’s running or not.  So yes, quiet.  I did notice some chatter on a forum that the timeline series seems to jump to 100% cpu usage sporatically without any reason.  I haven’t noticed it yet, but I have my resource monitor on and will be keeping an eye on it.

So I will be returning the 15.6″ timeline model and the Asus U81A model.  I still have 12 days to determine if I will keep this model or go for the smaller robust 13″ model for $200 more.  Unless everything crawls once I load my apps, I’ll probably keep this one.  I like the size and built in DVD drive, good compromise between the other 2 models.  Just wish it came with the option for dual processors like the 13″ model.
